Confirmation

Confirmation is a Catholic sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. Like Baptism and Eucharist, it is a Sacrament of Initiation for Catholics and a Sacrament of faith in God's fidelity to us.  It is a sacrament in which the Holy Ghost is given to those already baptized in order to make them strong and perfect Christians and soldiers of Jesus Christ.

Students in 8th grade prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation, which is conferred in the fall of their 9th grade year.  In addition to classroom attendance and proficient mastery of material, preparation for the sacrament includes 20 hours of Christian Service, selecting and researching a saint, writing a letter to the Bishop, attending a Confirmation retreat, and meeting with their sponsor. Contact Tim Smith, Director of Religious Education at (269) 983-1575, ext. 16 or e-mail religiousedoffice@att.net to obtain more information.

All who desire to enter the Catholic Church are warmly welcome to do so. Confirmation is completed following completion of CCD or RCIA.  Click on the Religious Education tab to read more.

Older students who have not received the sacraments may contact their Pastor or the Religious Education Office for guidance and information on programs available to them.
